Helping Hands

With us

"When I volunteer, I know that my shared time is really helping someone. I want to live in a community where everyone feels welcomed and safe. By volunteering with people who are seeking asylum, I know that I am giving someone the compassion they deserve and I am contributing to making Cardiff a friendlier city. Equally, I learn from the people involved in ShareDydd - the clients, hosts and the wider team in general."

Volunteers are the backbone of our organization and play an invaluable role in supporting people in our hosting network. Each volunteer brings their own unique experiences and knowledge of Cardiff to ShareDydd, which we welcome and value.

Our Link Worker volunteers work closely with hosts and guests to act as a point of contact and offer support. Volunteers also help people seeking asylum to engage in an onward plan by helping them to find durable solutions where possible, encouraging people to participate in educational and volunteer opportunities and partake in empowering activities.

Our team of translator volunteers help us to communicate with our clients who speak languages such as Arabic, Farsi, Amharic, Kibajuni (Bajuni), Somali and more.
